Pumpkins are a must this time of year, and cozy crochet pumpkins are simply the best! I’ve seen bunches of crocheted pumpkins this year and I thought I wasn’t going to throw my hat int the ring of pumpkin patterns. However, I love textured pumpkins and I decided to make a few for my home. I didn’t use a pattern I was just winging it and after a few failed attempts, I finally made a pattern I was happy with! And it was so cute that my husband and a few crochet friends of mine told me I should definitely share my small textured crochet pumpkin pattern!
If I’m being honest, I love the small cute pumpkins the best. I make my pumpkins a bit differently that most of the patterns I’ve seen. So, I hope you like my take on a textured crochet pumpkin.
Supplies
- Worsted weight yarn in any color
- I used Crafter’s Secret Big Idea in the color passport
- I/5.5mm crochet hook
Abbreviations
- Mc = Magic circle
- ch = chain
- st = stitch
- sc = single crochet
- slst =slip stitch
- <> = total number of stitches in round
- spider stitch* = 1 sc, 1 ch, 1 sc all in the same stitch. You work into the the ch space of the previous round

Round 1. Make 8 scs in a locking Mc, slst to join the round. <8>
Round 2. Ch 1, make 2 scs in the same st, make 2 scs in each of the remaining sts, slst to join the round. <16>
Row 3. Ch 1, put 1 sc in the same st, make 2 scs in the next st, * 1 sc in the next st, 2 scs in the st after,* repeat from *-* until you come to the end of the round, slst to join. <24>
Making the sides of the pumpkin
Round 4. Ch 1, make a spider st in same st, *sk 1 st, make a spider st in the next st,* repeat from *-* until to come to the end of the round. <12 spider sts>
Round 5. Repeat round 4.
Round 6 – 10. Repeat round 4.
Cut a long tail, weave the tail along the top stitches of the last round, and cinch it up.
Next, to make it look like a pumpkin, use your long tail to make the indents by going around the pumpkin with the thread and pushing the needle through the center of the pumpkin. repeat as many times as you like, pulling firmly on the thread after each pass to make sure the indent is nice and prominent

Make The Stem (optional)
You can use a stick, wine cork, or whatever you like as a stem.
If you want the crochet one I made, then here’s how I did it.
Attach your yarn to the 2nd round where you made just sc crochet and make a base of slip stitches around the round. make sure there are 6 sts*.
*If you used an I/5.5 hook, than you will need 8 sts instead of 6.
Round 1 -2. Ch 1, make a sc in that same st , put 1 sc in each stitch, slst to join.<6> *8 sc if using an I hook
Round 3. Ch 1, make a sc in that same st, make an inv dec in the next sts, put 1 sc in the next st, make an inv dec in the st after, slst to join.<4>
If using a an I/5.5mm hook Round 3. Ch 1, make a sc in that same st, make an inv dec in the next sts, put 1 sc in the next 2 sts, make an inv dec in the st after, make a sc in the last st, slst to join.<6>
If you are making the pumpkin with the I/5.5mm hook, then I suggest adding this 4th round.
*Round 4. Ch 1, make an inv dec in every st, slst to join.<3>
Use your tail to cinch the top closed and weave in your end.
I didn’t stuff mine, but if you want to you can put a small amount of stuffing into the stem before you close it up.

Your cute little textured pumpkin is done! The blue and purple one was made with the G/4.mm hook. The grey Pumpkin was made with an I/5.5mm hook. There is a slight difference in size, but I think they’re both adorable.
I think this pattern makes a perfect little accent pumpkin to use as decor for your home during Thanksgiving. You can use it in tablescapes, on bookshelves, above fireplaces, and anywhere else you’d like a small pumpkin to go. They work up quick so you can make lots of the in time for Thanksgiving.
