Let’s face it, when you get hooked on choose to do yarn craft you get a second hobby as well.. collecting all the yarn. At some point you realize things are getting out of hand and you need to find ways to store your yarn stash. So, if you have come to that epiphany, then let’s see if any of these will work for you!
1. Bookshelves
Depending on how much yarn you have, you might be able to get a small bookshelf for your stash. The fabric or wicker baskets would work just fine in just about any shelf. Or if you prefer, you can get the cubby shelves. You simply put the yarn in each cubby or shelf it in whatever order makes the most sense to you.

2. Wooden Crates
Wine crates or wooden crates have a beautiful rustic look to them. You can stain or paint them to look however you like and then stack them to your liking. Much like with the cubby shelves you would arrange your yarn however you like.
This is a wonderful option for most any aesthetic, cottagecore, witchcore, gothic, farm house, rustic, whatever floats your boat. The only one that it might clash for would be modern.

3. China Cabinet
Whether you have one laying around that you need to repurpose or you find one in a thrift shop. This can be a great way to use an old piece of furniture. You can sand it down, re-stain it/paint it, and load it up with all of your beautiful yarn. I’ve even seen people add led strips for lighting under the shelves so you can see your stash better.
4. A Craft Cart
If you are that magical unicorn of a yarn crafter that only buys what you need for one or two projects… Then maybe a cart is what you seek. You can get these crafting carts just about anywhere now. Michael’s has a couple types, Walmart has one, Target? has one, and of course the original one from Ikea. Pick your poison and then load it up with your yarn, hooks, and notions. You can take it into any room you wish and push it into a corner when you’re not using it.
Tip: This also works if you want a WIP cart that’s separate from your main stash.
5. Plastic Or Wire Cubes
I’ve been noticing that wire or plastic cube units have been making a comeback! I’ve used them for toys, paper work, and even shoe storage. But, I don’t see why you couldn’t use them as a way to store yarn. It would be a great way to customize the storage to your needs, since you can put them together anyway you want.
I would definitely say that you should do your research on them before you invest though. The wire one that I had as a kid bent very easily and even a small stack of paper would make it sag. However, I’ve seen others use them with no issue and most even say how much weight they can handle now.
