The Band of the Hat 2 Ways…

Ch 38 (ch 30 if you skipped round 11), slst to join. Sew the ends together, weave in the ends, and place it at the base of the hat.*
*Your gauge/tension might be different than mine so make sure the band fits your hat before you finish it.

This is how I wove in the ends.
If you would like a thicker band, then ch 39 (31 if smaller brim), make 1 sc in the second ch from the hook, and then make 1 sc in each st.
Sew the ends together, weave in the ends, and place it at the base of the hat.*
*Your gauge/tension might be different then mine so make sure the band fits your hat before you finish it.
