Snowman Bauble pattern

To start a MC, wrap the end of your yarn around two fingers twice, spread the two fingers, take your hook and pull the strand closest to your palm up as a loop, yarn over and pull through this is a chain.

Row 1: Make a MC with 6 sc inside, pull the tail tight to close it and slst into the first sc to join the round.

Row 2: CH 1, do 2 SC into each of the 6 STs equaling 12 STs, SL ST the 12th and 1st ST

Row 3: CH 1, alternate 1 SC and 1 increase every other stitch, amounting to 18 stitches, SL ST the 18th and first stitch.

Row 4: CH 1, alternate 2 SC and 1 increase every other stitch, amounting to 18 stitches, SL ST the 18th and first stitch.

Rows 5-9 CH 1, do 1 SC into each ST amounting to 24, SL ST the 24th into the 1st. Repeat this 3 times, you should have 4 rows of 24 SCs.

Row 10: CH 1, do 2 SCs, decrease on the 3rd stitch, repeat this all the way around, you should have 18 STs, SL ST the 18th and the 1st.

Sew on the nose with some orange yarn on the 5th row. Add 10 mm safety eyes on the row above the nose.

You can position the eyes wherever you like. You can sew them if you prefer using black yarn.

This is the last step for the nose!

Add your mouth in black yarn.

Row 11: CH 1, do 1 SC, decrease on the 2nd stitch, repeat this all the way around, you should have 12 STs, SL ST the 12th and the 1st.

Stuff the ball with poly fill to your desired density.

Row 12: CH 1, do a decrease in each stitch, repeat this all the way around, you should have 6 STs, SL ST the 6th and the 1st.

Row 13: CH 1, snip the yarn, giving yourself a long tail, take a yarn needle* and sew the last 6 STs closed, sew the remaining thread through the snowman at different places, this will secure it, when you feel it’s secure, pull it tight and snip close to the snowman, it will hide the thread for you since the thread will relax one the tension is released.

Knot a long piece of yarn and sew it through the bottom to come out the very top make a loop big enough to hang it from and go back through the same hole, sew it through the the snowman in the same fashion to secure it.

He’s done!

Extra Hat Pattern

You can add a hat if you like. I did a simple one:

Start with 6 ST in a MC, join the 6th ST with the 1st

CH 2 and Double Crochet increases in every ST, SL ST the 12th and 1st ST.

CH 2, do 1 DC, increase in the 2nd ST, repeat for a total 18 ST, SL ST the 18th and 1st ST.

CH 2, do 2 DC, increase in the 3rd ST, repeat for a total of 24 ST, SL ST the 24th and 1st ST.

CH 2, DC in each of the 24 DC.

* if you don’t have a yarn needle you can use a small crochet hook, it’s just a bit more fiddly and you probably will have a fair amount of stuffing pull out. So be careful not to pull too hard.
