The Easy Everlasting Pillar Candle Crochet Pattern

Abbreviations

Mc = Magic circle

sc = single crochet

Slst = slip stitch

St = stitch

Blo = back loop only

bp = back post

Inv dec = invisible decrease

Hdc = Half double crochet

Dc = Double crochet

<> = total number of stitches in round

Everlasting Pillar Candle Crochet Pattern

Round 1. In a locking Mc, make 8 scs, slst to the first st to join. <8>

Round 2. Ch 1, make a sc in the first st, put another sc in the same st, put 2 scs in each st, slst to join. <16>

Round 3. Ch 1, make a sc in the first st, put 2 scs in the next st, *make 1 sc in the next st, put 2 scs in st after,* repeat from *-* until you reach for first st, slst to join. <24>

Round 4. Ch 1, make a sc in the first st, make a sc in the next st, put 2 scs in the st after, *make 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, put 2 scs in st after,* repeat from *-* until you reach for first st, slst to join. <32>

Round 5. Ch 1, make a blo sc in each st, slst to join. <32>

Tip: Keep your tension on the tighter side on this row.

Rounds 6 – 23. Ch 1, make 1 sc in each st, slst to join. <32>

Back post sc crochet: Insert hook from the wrong side of the fabric into the gap between the stitches.
Push the hook into the gap on the other side of the post. Draw up a loop through both gaps. Do a sc as normal from there.

Round 24. Ch 1, make a bp sc, make 1 bp sc in each st, slst to join. <32>

Tip: make sure you count your stitches so you have the correct amount. Back post sts tend to make it difficult to tell.

Round 25. Ch 1, put 1 sc in the first st, make an inv dev in the next st, *put 1 sc in the next st, make an inv dec in the st after,* repeat until you come to the last st, put 1 sc in the last st, slst to join. <21>

Round 26. Ch 1, put 1 sc in the first st, make an inv dev in the next st, *put 1 sc in the next st, make an inv dec in the st after,* repeat until you come to the last st, slst to join. <14>

If you’re putting a piece of cardboard in the bottom do it now. If you want to make your pillar candle more stable you can put something heavy in the bottom now.

Stuff your candle here.

Round 27. Ch 1, make an inv dev in the first st, * make an inv dec in each st,* repeat until you come to the last st, slst to join. <8>

Tie off and weave the tail around the last 8 sts.

Cinch it closed with the tail and tie it off, the weave in the end.

Not quite done yet..

Once you’ve finished securing the end. Go back to the top stitches you left behind on round 24. Attach the yarn to one of the sts as shown.

Round 28. Ch 1, put a sc in the same st, place 1 sc in each st, slst to join. <32>

Round 29. – 31. Ch 1, put a sc in the same st, place 1 sc in each st, slst to join. <32>

Round 32. Ch 1, make a sc in the same st, make 1 sc in the next st, put 1 hdc in the next st, make 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, make 1 dc in the next, put a hdc in the sts after, make 1 sc in each of the remaining sts, slst to join. <32>

Round 33. Ch 1, make 1 slst in the same st, make 1 sc in each of the next 16 sts, 1 slst in the next, 1 slst in the st after, slst to join. <16 scs, 3 slsts>

Weaving in the ends

Work the needle down to the stuffed base. Push the needle through the candle base at different points to secure the tail.
