Welcome my dears, this pattern drove me a bit batty while I was trying to figure it out, but it was worth it to give you a crochet poison apple cover pattern! Can you believe that it’s time for day 10 already? I told you before that there would be a trick later on day 2 when I gave you the apple pattern as a treat… As it turn out, it’s a poison apple. As scrumptious as that sounds to me, it’s not always every ones cup of tea. Who doesn’t love a poison apple? Well, I suppose some people don’t like them. That’s why you need a crochet cover so people can tell which is witch..
(Yes, I’m aware that I used the wrong “which”)
You’ll have to go back to Day 2 for the apple pattern as a base if you don’t have it already. But assuming you have everything you need let’s get to the pattern.
Supplies
- Worsted weight yarn
- You can make your poisonous drip any color you like: Green, Black, Red, Purple Grey, whatever.)
- F/3.75 mm hook
- Snips
- Yarn or tapestry Needle
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- st = stitch
- BB = back bone of the chain stitch
- slst =Slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sk = skip
- small drip = ch 3, in the 2nd ch from the hook, put a hdc in the BB, put a sc in the BB of the remaining ch.
- long drip = ch 5, in 2nd ch from hook, put a dc in the BB, put 1 sc in the BB of each of the remaining 3 sts.
- *-* = repeat
- Inv Dec = Invisible decrease
- <> = total number of stitches in row
crochet Poison Apple Cover pattern
Foundation row. Ch 13, slst to the first st using the BB.
Round 1. Ch 1, turn you work so that you can work over your tail, work sc 20 around the ch sts, slst to join the round. <20>
Round 2. Ch 1, sc in the same st, mark the first st with a stitch marker, put 2 scs in the next, *sc in next, 2 scs in the next st* repeat until you come back to your stitch mark. <30 sc>
Round 3. Make a sc in the sc with the stitch marker, move the stitch marker to that new stitch, put a sc in the next st, put 2 scs in the following st, *put 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, put 2 scs in the following st,* repeat until you come back to your st marker. <40>
Note: Do not join the rounds unless stated.
Round 4. Make a sc in the sc with the stitch marker, move the stitch marker to that new st, put 1 sc in each st. <40>
Round 5. Make a sc in the sc with the stitch marker, move the stitch marker to that new stitch, put a hdc in the next st, ch 8, sk 2 sts, put a sc in the 3rd st from the hdc, make a sc in each or the remaining sts. <37 scs, 1 hdc, 8 chs>
Round 6. Make a sc in the sc with the stitch marker, move the stitch marker to that new stitch, make a sc in the following st, put 11 scs in the ch space, put 1 sc in each of the next 3 scs, ch 8, sk 2 sts, put a hdc in the 3rd st from your last sc, put a sc in each of the remaining sts in the round. <46 scs, 1 hdc, 8 chs>
Round 7. Make a sc in the sc with the stitch marker, move the stitch marker to that new stitch, put 1 scs in each of the next 15 sts, put 11 scs in the ch sp, put 1 sc in the remaining sts. <57>
Round 8. Make a sc in the sc with the stitch marker, move the stitch marker to that new stitch, put 1 sc in each of the next 11 sts, ch 2, sk 6 sts, sc to the 7th st from the last sc, put 1 sc in each of the remaining sts. <51 scs, 2 chs>
Make sure you test the cover on your apple every once in a while, it should fit snugly.
Round 9. Make a sc in the sc with the stitch marker, move the stitch marker to that new stitch, ch 1, sk 2 sts, sc to 3rd st, put 1 sc in each of the next 8 sts, put 2 scs in the ch sp, put 1 sc in each of the next 9 sts, ch 2, sk 4 sts, sc to the 5th, put 1 sc in each of the remaining sts. <46 scs, 3 chs>

This is how to make the long drip.
Round 10. Make a sc in the sc with the stitch marker, move the stitch marker to that new st, put 1 sc in the ch sp, sk the next st, *put a sc in the following st, make a small drip, sc to the next st, sc in the next st,* repeat once, make 1 sc in each of the next 7 sts, make a small drip, sc in next st, put 1 sc in each of the next 5 sts, put 1 sc in the ch sp, sk the next st, sc in the following st, make a long drip,…

Round 10 part 2. Sc in the next st, make an inv dec, make a hdc in the next st, make a long drip, hdc in same st, put 1 inv dec in the following st, put a hdc in the next st, put a dc in the st after, make a small drip, hdc in the same st, put an inv dec in the next st, put 1 hdc in each of the next 2 sts, make a small drip, hdc in the same st, hdc in the next st, inv dec in the following st, sc in the next st, make a long drip, sc in the next st,..
Round 10 part 3. Make an inv dec in the next st, put a hdc in the following st, put a dc in the st after, put 1 hdc in each of the last 2 sts, slst to the st with the stitch marker in it.
Weaving in the ends
Cut a 2 inch tail, tie off your tail, and weave in the end.
And that’s it for your crochet poison apple cover! You can even use them for real apples, if it fits of course. You never know when you might need an apple cozy.
