Welcome to the 4th day of Halloween, today we’re hooking up some spooky crochet spider web garland! Spider webs in your home are usually frowned upon. But this time of the year, they are perfectly acceptable and even sought after. Of course the only spider or spider-ett that make webs out of yarn are probably the human variety.
I went for a semi-circle bunting shape for this web. I like the way it came out and that the pattern/method of attaching, is flexible enough that you can make if for any space.
Now, let’s get to it!
Supplies
- Worsted weight yarn in white, grey, or black
- Any color you prefer, those are just my suggestions
- I used Premier Just Yarn Worsted in the color Mushroom

- G/4mm hook
- Snips
- Yarn or tapestry needle

- Dc = Double crochet
- Ch = chain
- Mc = Magic Circle
Crochet Spider web garland Pattern
Start by using a locking Mc, here’s a tutorial for that.
Row 1. Ch 4, this counts as a dc and a ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc. You should have 6 dcs total.
Tighten the Mc here.
Row 2. Ch 5, turn, (this counts as 1 dc and 2 chs), put 1 dc in the same st, ch 2, * 1 dc in the next dc from the previous row, ch 2* repeat from *-* 4 times, put 1 more dc in the last dc of the previous row.
Row 3. Ch 5, turn, (this counts as 1 dc and 2 chs), put 1 dc in the same st, ch 2, * 1 dc in the next dc from the previous row, ch 2* repeat from *-* 6 times, put 1 more dc in the last dc of the previous row.
Row 4. Ch 5, turn, (this counts as 1 dc and 2 chs), put 1 dc in the same st, ch 3, * 1 dc in the next dc from the previous row, ch 3* repeat from *-* 8 times, put 1 more dc in the last dc of the previous row.
Cut your tail, leaving about 4 inches, and tie off your end.
Weave in your end with a yarn needle as shown.
How To Connect Them
Step 1. Ch 30 using a F/3.75 hook, slst to corner of the spider web, ch 3, sl st to the next dc top st, repeat that step until you come to the other end of the web.
Step 2. Ch 20, then connect the next web using the same technique as step 1.
I made 7 of the spider webs and connected them like this, which made it 76 inches in length. You can obviously make your garland as long as you want.
I think making your own garland is great for personalizing your home and your decorations. You can quite literally make it the perfect size for where you want to put it. I love how these bunting style spider webs came out.
If you’re not a fan of garland then you can use the half spider web shape as a doily as well.
You can make your half web bigger by repeating row 4 (where it tells you to repeat 8 times, you will increase the number by 2 for each row). I made 4 extra rows just repeating row 4. You’ll have to spread it out a bit because it will be warped to start. I’m not sure how many times you can repeat row 4 before it will be too warped to lay flat.
The white yarn is the part of the web where I added on to it with 4 extra row 4s.
